Free Download: Illogic "One Bar Left" EP

| Friday, November 28, 2008
Illogic is a incredible emcee that surpass most emcees out there. Check him out, this is a post taken from www.hiphopsite.com

Born and raised in Columbus Ohio, Illogic honed his mic skills at an early age in hallway ciphers during high school. Nearly a decade and six studio albums later, through constant nationwide touring, Illogic has shared stages with Rakim, Casual, Atmosphere, Eyedea, Brother Ali, The Roots, Common, and many many more. Most in the underground circle might remember Illogic for his classic debut, "Unforseen Shadows", the first release of now legendary Weightless Records. Following that was the nationally acclaimed "Got Lyrics" and cult-classic "Celestial Clockwork", all sonically molded by the deft hands of Blueprint (of Soul Position and Rhymesayers noteriety).

Between constant touring and raising a family, Illogic has been preparing his return to Weightless Records, as well as his return to the spotlight after a nearly three year hiatus. In Spring of 2009, Illogic will release "Diabolical Fun", a lyrics and melody driven record that balances the poetic nature of a classic Illogic verse with the soulful and "out-there" melodies of album producer Ill poetic (The World is Ours, Budden/Portishead & NIN/Outkast mash-ups).

In anticipation of this release, Illogic has cooked up the upcoming EP, "One Bar Left" as an appetizer, so-to-speak. The EP will be available for free download on Tuesday, November 25th, and will also be available for digital purchase, with the inclusion of all EP instrumentals. (Press Release)

Son of a Crackhead Part 1

IN A MATTER OF MINUTES, I WILL be REDUCED TO BEING A SON OF A CRACKHEAD.
IT ONLY HAPPENS EVERY OTHER WEEK, YALL KNOW..PAYDAY.
SHE COMES HOME, DOESNT FEEDS US, AND REALLY HAS NOTHING TO SAY.
IN A MATTER OF MINUTES, I WILL be REDUCED TO BEING THE SON OF A CRACKHEAD.
I RECALL 2AM WALKS TO THE CRACKHOUSE.
SHE WAS TOO SCARED TO WALK THERE, BY HERSELF.
HER DEALER WAS COOL, HE CAME AROUND ALOT, BUT LOOKED AT ME, AS IF I DIDNT KNOW.
SITTING IN A HOUSE FULL OF FUMES, 3HOURS LATER MOMS COMES OUT, WITH HER BLOW.
IN A MATTER OF MINUTES, I WILL be REDUCED TO BEING A SON OF A CRACKHEAD.
ONE MORNING I WOKE UP TO A HORRIBLE SMELL OF BURNING GLASS.
BUT AS I GET CLOSER TOO HER ROOM, I HERE HER SAY, "MY SON IS COMING, PUT THAT UP REAL FAST".
SO I KNOCK ON THE DOOR AND PRETEND TO HAVE A BAD DREAM.
I AM THE SON OF A CRACKHEAD, THIS IS NOT A DREAM.
I FALL TO MY KNEES EVERYDAY, HOPING SOMEONE CAN SAFE US.
BUT SHE EVEN STOLE X-MAS, THERE IS NO TRUST.
BEING A SON OF A CRACKHEAD, I THOUGHT WOULD FADE AWAY.
UNTIL SHE OVERDOSED AND PASTED AWAY.
SHE NEVER TOLD ME WHY SHE LEFT US, HERE ALONE
I NEVER GOT A CHANCE TO SAY GOODBYE, AND NOW SHE'S GONE.

A Special Day with Patrick

|
This is a short story I would like to share with everyone from a very talented writer. Approach this story with a open mind understanding this is from a child's point of view and the ending is open ended to stimulated the reader to create there own ending. Read, enjoy and share. Peace

A Special Day with Patrick

My name is Patrick, I am ten years old. This is the year 2099, and I have a story to tell about my summer vacation. My parents have always told me stories about wildlife and plants and how they used to be everywhere when my grandparents were my age. Now there is no sign of wildlife outside of a museum or a man made garden.

My parents took me to one of these gardens for the first time this summer. We went to the only garden in our state and the only garden with a tree. I have never seen a tree before, so I was really excited when my parents told me we were going.

It was finally Saturday; I got out of bed and woke my parents before running to get dressed, even though it was still dark. Mom got up next so she started breakfast. I had to wake my dad again but he finally rolled out of bed too.

After breakfast, the three of us packed a lunch and some snacks for the trip since it would be an all day trip. They said it would take the entire day to drive there, see everything in the garden and to drive back home.

We climb into our old electric car and started off just as the sun was completing its rise from the horizon.
As we approached the garden I could see the top of the tree looming over everything else. It was humongous! We paid our fare and entered the garden through a chain link fence that surrounded the whole area. I could then see the rest of the tree in the center of the garden.

Dad wanted to walk around and see the other displays, so Mom came with me to the tree which was surrounded by another chain linked fence to protect it. There was a plaque posted on the fence that covered a lot of space, Mom started to read it while I stared up at the great height of the tree. The plaque told a story of how the trees all became extinct, and how this particular oak tree was salvaged at the construction site five years before. This was the biggest tree seen in over a decade because all the old trees were torn down to make way for highways, buildings or sidewalks.

As I listened to Mom read the plaque I saw something fall from one of the branches. A small round object hit the ground and rolled to the fence just inches away from where I was standing. I got Mom’s attention and pointed it out; she smiled and said it was an acorn where the seeds come from to make more trees. She went back to the plaque and read aloud how the garden attendants collect the acorns to plant for new trees, in the hope that the trees can thrive again.

I stood and looked at the acorn for a minute, and then ideas come to me. I looked around carefully to make sure no one was watching, and then I quickly stooped down reaching through the fence and grabbed the acorn. I stuffed the smooth brown acorn into my pocket before anyone could see it, then I walked with Mom around the garden for the rest of the day.

After we arrived home and Mom and Dad went to bed. I took the acorn from my pocket and studied it, turning it over and over in my palm. Finally, I could not keep my eyes open anymore, so I placed the acorn on the table next to my bed and feel asleep, dreaming about the next day when I would plant the acorn in our backyard where it would grow to be a tree. Just in time for a new century.

Iron and Wine Concert Review

|
This is a post not by me but by some of my folks that went to a Iron and Wine Concert last week in Asheville NC, check out the concert review. Here at 1081 creations its not about hip hop music, soul music or rock music. There are no boundaries but just good music. Enjoy
**********************************************************************************

I have been following this band now for about 5 years. I was introduced to a couple Iron and Wine songs off of the first album from a friend. I was instantly intrigued by its simple yet emotional sound. Iron and Wine is actually just a stage name for one man "Sam Beam". Since 2002 Beam has put out 6 records in whole, ranging from acoustic folk rock featuring occasional slide, and banjo to his lastest few albums which are played w/ a little more electric guitar and accompaniment. If you are familiar at all w/ the late Nick Drake, Iron and Wine has a similar sound to the late 60's early 70's artist. My wife and I were able to attend an Iron and Wine concert last week in Asheville, N.C. for a reasonable price. The venue was relativelly small so we got a good view of his talents. As a whole the concert was real good, and he played several of my favorites. The show lasted about 1 hour and 15 minutes, not including the opening act "Blitzen Tracker" from Oregon which was a pretty good band in its own respect. Iron and Wine started out w/ just an accoustic set which was Beam playing guitar and singing along w/ a female background vocalist. A few songs later he brought out the rest of the band consisting of a bassist, piano (keyboards), and 2 percussionists. Iron and Wine is essentially just Sam Beam from a creation standpoint {writing, lyrics, music}. Supplemental musicians are called upon for some recording and live shows of course. Some of his typically acoustic songs were played more electrically, which I would have preferred to remain the same. Although you never want to take the creativity away from the musician nor do you want to see a live show sound identical to the record. There were some elongated jam sessions and transitioning from one song directly into another. I would have to say that the most impressive thing about the concert was Beam's vocals, his voice was crisp and clear and sounded like record quality. The crowd called for an encore and after a minute or so he returned to play one last acoustic song from his debut album. Iron and Wine has a gentle folk feel to it at times but don't mistake its ability to rock it out w/ compelling upbeats. I highly recommend checking out Iron and Wine both in the record store and out on the streets.

Blokhedz

| Saturday, November 22, 2008

This is a jawn that I read a few months back and it was really entertaining, Check it out its a blend of graffiti and hip hop with a great story line

From Publishers Weekly
This African-American novel of the streets pits its young hero, Blak, against local gangs, his brother's killers and his own inner demons. Blak must come to terms with his extraordinary gifts—a magical ability that lets him fight, lead others and rap at a high level. The plot is a bit hard to follow. It's not always clear who are Blak's friends and who are his foes, and the role of an almost-otherworldly recording studio head is never completely defined, but the book has a driving story line that keeps flowing. The color art is striking and shadowed, full of jewel tones and fantastic motion—this dystopia has a beating heart you can see and feel on the page. The characters are similarly oversized: big and angry, or big and loving, or confused in deep and tragic ways. A few of the stereotypes are a bit unfortunate, but scenes like Blak's encounter with the devil himself in the sewers feel alive and scary. At times, it's hard to tell whether the story is taking place in Blak's own personal dreamscape or in some hell on earth, but it doesn't really matter. The story brings a manga-like intensity to this inner-city quest. (Mar.)

EOP'S Ear Candy Presents Ayah

| Thursday, November 20, 2008
This is something new to the blog called Ear Candy, for these post I will feature very talented sisters when so much to offer to the world and the world of music, here is the first post introducing Ayah.

Ayah
Ayah ( yatun, plural Ayat ytun) is the Arabic word for sign or miracle

A multitalented & self-taught singer / songwriter / composer who possesses a voice so very enchanting in its purity, Ayah has experienced a fairly nomadic life & found her growing world indelibly touched by a vast array of musical genres, cultures and social climates. These elements would inevitably play an influential role in her writing.

At the age of 9, Ayah discovered her voice and her passion to express herself through music. By the time she was 14, she had already mastered playing the piano and had learned the fundamentals to engineering her own material. While developing her genuine sound, Ayah drew from the many music influences she had been exposed to within her travels.

Ayah, now 22, creates her own unique brand of music, an eclectic infusion of classic Soul/Rock, R&B and hip hop; the musical prowess of contemporary RnB artists, Soul stirrers, & timeless legends.

Ayah has graced many stages with her powerful voice and emotional performance. Her live show is not to be missed.

Today, Ayah is working with a solid team of producers, preparing to dominate with her debut offering.

“This is my life, it is not a hobby. This is my one true love, not a one night stand" - Ayah.

Beau Love

| Wednesday, November 19, 2008

Beau Love
With his true roots in India the 31 year old beat creator Beau Love now hails from Amsterdam. If you´d leave it up to him he´d only need one word to describe his sound; dope!

After a while commuting as a student between Amsterdam and his hometown, he made the big decision to pursue a career in the thing he truly loved, music. Shortly after this, MC Beau Mega (as he was known then) made the transition to Beau Love. The difference; he no longer rhymed over beats, instead he was providing the beats for others to rhyme over. Using the basic Amiga 500, Beau soon realised that he was unable to reach his own high standards with this equipment. Step forward the MPC 2000 - still his main weapon of choice today!

After moving permanently to Amsterdam in 2000, his production talents have rapidly developed, producing industrial beats with enough soul to keep his craft warm - what sets him apart from many is his willingness to sample anything.. For Beau, any sound is a potential beat or sample, therefore making his possible sources of inspiration limitless. To date, Beau´s production efforts prove that he is at the forefront of his industry, providing inspiration for others to draw on.

His unique sound has brought him collaborations with acclaimed MC´s Kool Keith, Blaxtar and MC Fit. And as Beau´s sound progresses we are sure to see Beau working with even more of the industries top artists!

He´s more than happy that the path he walked has brought him to this debut EP Untitled, the first of a promising Appletree Beat Series that will be out on Appletree Records, which brings the best of Beau Love on vinyl and cd. A musical journey of rough beats, samples and instrumentals. It´s not only a sound for one man. It´s a sound for mankind.

What good people, the young lady featured in the is post is a phenomenal artist and I want everyone I know to be aware of her work. Looking at her work is a inspiration for me and I want to share her work. So below is a bio and some pics of her work, with links of where some of the merchandise can be purchased. Now I am proud to present Vy

I was born in Luangprabang, Laos, the second youngest child from a family of ten. My family immigrated to Thailand to escape from the communist regime in Laos. We lived in a refugee camp in Thailand in 1982, and after a year we were lucky to be given a chance to come to the U.S and settle in Boise, Idaho. It was a difficult transition, but one that has made me a stronger individual and better at what I do.

I always knew I wanted to pursue a career in art. When I was younger, I would doodle on anything I could find. I dealt with a lot of ignorance and bias in school and growing up. As a result, drawing became an escape from my fellow peers and an outlet for my thoughts.

I am the first person in my family to graduate from college. In 2004, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design. My emphasis was also focused in painting and drawing. I am currently a Promotions Coordinator/Graphic Designer for Boise State University Health, Wellness and Counseling Services in Boise, Idaho. I have been designing for five years and have worked professionally for four. My experience ranges from designing brochures, annual reports, flyers, posters, logos, promotional materials and web design.

My work is strongly inspired by Laotian culture and various genres of music-from Hip Hop and Jazz to Soul and Funk. I am also inspired by 60’s and 70’s era psychedelic poster design and music album art covers. My ideas derive from past influences because I believe we can learn from our past and shape our present and future. I have a passion for creating my own typeface and try to incorporate as much fine art into my design as possible. Music is a major driving force in my work and daily life, and is a huge influence in the creative process. It is what keeps me grounded as a graphic designer and as an artist.

BROTHERHOOD

|
This is a poem by a very talented brother, this is something that a lot of us need to learn the understand the concept of...

BROTHERHOOD
s.kino Graham-Jackson

Lend me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free
And I'll give them Brotherhood!
We cry of tyranny, terrorism, racism and genocide
And yet, the very fabric of being an American...being a human...
Is the idealism of Brotherhood!
If love is unconditional
And Brotherhood is the epitome of love
Then why put conditions
Onto the notion of being My Brother?
If the idea of "each one teach one"
And "each one help one" is based
In the foundation of true Brotherhood...
Then ask yourself...
"Whom have I helped...and what have I taught them?"
If God is love and love is life
And Life, such as it is,
Is not to be lived alone...
Then give me Brotherhood.

Phase Me

|
This entire is a poem by a talented sister from Lynchburg Va, check it out, she has talent.

Phase Me

Why should I let you phase me?
I will not.
I won’t.

I along with the majority can see that this is only another attempt,
To alter my feelings of self worth and stability
By cutting and slashing my self-esteem with grueling fierce remarks and malicious statements.

Why should I let you phase me?
I will not.
I won’t.

I can truly see and understand through my maturity that I not only like myself but have a firm seat in reality and can understand my identity and self-proclamation of true happiness.

I realize that the purpose I have in life is to please the maker of the universe.
That is why I was put on Earth.
If I can’t please Him then I have nothing left to
Live
Breath
Exercise my mind
And die for.

So why should I let you phase me?
I will not.
I won’t.

Because I am here to phase you.

Ferrari 110: What Classics are made of

| Monday, November 3, 2008

Whats good world, I want to introduce you to a very talent brother, who I have alot of respect for. Its rare to find people with the same mindstate and objectives musically.

The Blog:
The purpose of the blog is to reach out to the younger generation and show them what real old school hip hop and
what current underground hip hop is. It's also for the old heads who really appreciate and know real hip hop when they
hear it. Aside from just doing music on the blog I like for people to know some personal things about me through the blog.
I might throw up some post that have nothing to do with music like a movie trailer or some sports post. I think it's always good
to report on different subject matter. It's keeps people looking for the unexpected and keeps them tuned in for more.

The Music:
I know it's like a million of other dudes that do music besides me but at the end of the day I reflect back to the what my
music professor told me.....what does it sound like? This means what is the music really saying, what is the message?
who are you trying to reach when you preform and when you make it? How does it strike your emotions? In a nutshell, I do
it because I see more of my character when I make it. It' all really just speaks for itself.

Astonish

| Saturday, November 1, 2008
Peep Astonish he is from the Chi doing good work, check him out. Peace

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Astonish joins the veteran hip-hop collective, the Molemen, as their youngest burgeoning emcee. Originally from Humboldt Park but now residing in Old Irving/Jefferson Park, Astonish embodies Chicago’s capacity to produce a street-smart lyricist with enough intelligent swagger to hold his own in the midst of both the thugs and the backpackers.

Having been reared in a diverse musical environment, Astonish gained a unique eclectic auditory experience that has helped him develop his balanced approach to music. Between the old-school soul records of his grandparents’ era, his father’s penchant for NWA, and his own musical delving with everything from Usher to Nas to Red Hot Chilli Peppers: Astonish’s rhymes convey a multitude of topics that reflects this musical heritage.

After gaining a street buzz as a younger teen, Astonish felt that he needed to restrain himself from putting out tracks without a proper network behind him to ensure that his first album wasn’t lost in a flood of underground releases and never heard. By biding his time, he was able to cultivate his craft and eventually gain the ear of the Moles, quickly earning their acceptance with his sincerity and the quality of his delivery.

With nearly six years of devoted rhyming under his belt, Astonish is in a solid position to quickly establish himself as one of Chicago hip-hop’s newly tiered breakthrough artists. One of his songs, “Broken Dreams”, focuses on his strong impulse to take advantage of the opportunities presented to him while they are still available, and not to let time pass him by. Having joined up with the legendary Molemen collective at the young age of 21, it is clear that he is wasting no time in taking advantage of a very strong opportunity to allow his dream of becoming an internationally respected emcee to be realized.

Astonish’s first release (available now) is “The Biz” mixtape, with fellow emerging Molemen recruits: Scheme and Decay. Utilizing beats by the Molemen camp and his own producer, Cucs, Astonish plans on getting Chicago acquainted with his style with an EP by the end of 2007, as of yet untitled. He is also planning on putting out a compilation album with his RnA cohort, Risque, after his first full-length Molemen release. The title for the debut Molemen LP has yet to be determined, but it is slated to be unleashed first quarter 2008. Written by Will Line
