SANTIAGO

| Wednesday, December 10, 2008

I have to share with you guys the breath taking work of a talented artist by the name of Santiago. Again support true talent and let the artist know that they are appreciated. Here are a few pics of his work, links for contact info is below and his bio was taken from his myspace page.

DONT READ THIS! Am I supposed to write fancy things about my accomplishments? I never had an official bio, and I won't start writing a boring one now. Nor will I talk in the third person about what companies and exhibitions I collaborated with. I would rather be genuine and embarrass myself before you with a story. A story about a nerdy kid too shy, socially awkward, and pathetically nervous to talk to pretty girls. So instead, I painted them. Beauty controls the world. All men pursue her; all women admire or strive for her. Even the religions of the world showcase her. Show me a painting of an ugly Virgin Mary, a homeless looking Buddha or an out of shape Hindu Goddess. Instead of being like the cool kids who went out, had social lives and did stuff, I stood home watching Anime, drawing and painting beauty, gathering inspiration from countless sources. Fast forward many years, I am still that nerdy fellow creating provocative visuals blending experimental urban futuristic pinups filled with cultural mash-ups, musical eroticism, deep emotion, robotic fashion forwardness, exotically tanned curvaceous ness with a twist of religious-spiritual-social consciousness. Success for me is simple. At the end of the day the only thing that matters in my "success" as an artist is.... does my art move you? Can you feel my passion through the colors, shapes, textures and concepts that are spilling out my brain for you to enjoy? Thank you for stopping by. Buy my prints -Santi-

On the Verge: Rugged N Raw AKA RNR

| Thursday, December 4, 2008
At LifeLongs video release party

Man there are some artist you see perform or hear there music and there music creates feeling or the hungry in there voice or beats draw you to want to hear more. I remember seeing RNR in a beat battle a few years back and I was blown, because of the energy and originality his beats had and to see him rip to mic. I was very impressed. The thing about this dude, he is mad humble and I have a lot of respect for RNR.

Check him out, support real hip hop and if you dont purchase a album from him go to his myspace page and leave some comments, check out his music. I could ask for anymore. The Truth Serum album is available now on his myspace page for a physical copy along with other merchandise and digital copies are available at cd baby and itunes of both Truth Serum and Another Level. Below is the I'M BROKE & PROUD VIDEO FEAT. HASAN SALAAM and address for the RNR and his music. Peep the freestyle video.

Peace
EOP

I be poppin my suspenders, son!!!

Over the years, Rugged N Raw has developed his raw, uncut style on the microphone, making his one of the best up and coming artists around. In addition to his talents as an emcee, he is also one of the best producers you'll ever hear; with beats ranging from slow and melodic to fast-paced. He is an all-around talent that is a rarity in a business where most only succeed in one area or the other. RNR has performed at quite a few spots and won some competitions along the way. In addition to winning song competitions and emcee battles, he is also a 7-Time Beat Battle Champion and the current IPA Beat Battle Grand Champion and Newark's MTP Grand Champion, proving he is the most versatile unsigned phenomenon out there. He was a finalist at the 2008 Discmakers Independent Music World Series & selected to be a performer at the 2008 Baltimore Music Conference. Rugged N Raw has shared the stage with the likes of Pharoahe Monch, Serius Jones, Immortal Technique, Grandmaster Caz, DMC, Lord Jamar of Brand Nubian, C Rayz Walz, Eyedea & Abilities, Akir, 5 Ft. of Black Moon, Amanda Diva from MTV2, Poison Pen, Kevin Michael, Eternia, Mr. Lif, Polyrhythm Addicts, Dame Grease, RAMP and Rob Sonic.

Begin Again

| Tuesday, December 2, 2008
New material by S.K. Jackson, READ IT, leave feed back.

Begin Again by s. k. Jackson

It's been ignited
That fuel that was supposed to be lost for all time
The magma that was cooled to the point of solidifying
And frozen in space and time
For what was to be eternity.
The pulse that had been quieted has begun to throb
And with it, the feeling of pure and unbridled passion
Begins to flow in revolutions around the heart
That stopped beating long ago.
You've allowed me to Begin Again.
The longing for a symbiot; that heart to beat in tandem with mine
The tears to flow in unison with mine
The fire to burn with the same intensity as mine
Has come to Begin Again.
My world, my heart, my soul has recharged
And having been blessed with that Eternal Approval
I have allowed myself...with your love...to Begin Again.

Ear Candy Presents Stacy Epps

| Monday, December 1, 2008
My old Stoop on tha Westside!!

It was about 5 years ago, I heard this soulful melodic voice on a mixtape and I was hooked instantly like who is this and where can I get more music. Durning this time she was in a group called Sol Uprising, and I was thirsty for more music. I am please to present Stacy Epps, support her debut solo album The Awakening

thanks dubelyoo!!

Stacy Epps|Lyrical Healer

A true rare groove vocalist and emcee delivers heavy messages that flow like a summer breeze over hard- hitting beats. Stacy Epps breathes solar winds through Atlanta’s progressive soul scene. Raised in a military family, Stacy started her career equipped with an inviting global perspective, vintage earrings from her grandmother’s collection, and a law degree from the University of Southern California

In ten years she’s established a globally reaching reputation for sonic excellence in the underground hip hop community. Epps is on a mission to see how far the music can spread through truly independent efforts. The people are the catalyst. Through direct contact and physical distribution she is embarking on an experimental release of her debut solo album “The Awakening” this summer, through her label Japanubia Musik, LLC.

You may have heard her as half of the jazzy rap duo Sol Uprising. She also works with some of the underground’s illest scientists: Madlib, MF DOOM, OH NO, Wildchild, J Rawls and Scienz of Life. Her sensually sophisticated singing is only topped when she grabs the mic to rhyme with the precision of Bahamadia, of whom she and femcee Invincible toured Europe with on the Sistas in Rhyme Tour in December, 2006.

stacygrate by Jati lindsay

Her Voice

“Though rain has cleansing properties, I really love the sunshine,” says Epps. Intermingled with the ruggedly spotless beats of Apex, Diamond D, Jay Dilla, Kareeim Riggens and Everett James she smoothly blends her urban alternative vocal style. Stacy’s approach is a heavily enchanting sound that delivers a brilliantly clairvoyant vibrato. Engineers elegantly intertwine her floating voice with gritty boom-bap gems. . This gives her work a dreamlike quality that never seems to overpower the beat, as Stacy Epps grooves mystically through it.

Her Lyrics

Stacy Epps possesses an astute talent for insightful rhyming, what she calls the, “ultimate divine form of communication.” By lyrically wielding a heavy Uzi for injustice and mental captivity, Stacy remains connected to the pioneering messages of mental captivity, Stacy remains connected to the pioneering messages of Fela Kuti, Miriam Makeba, Bob Marley, Queen Latifah, Public Enemy, and KRS-One. She refuses to compromise her ideals to progress professionally. Stacy Epps represents her sistas well by reminding them of their natural glow, encouraging them to love one another, and to support their brothas in the struggle for wealth of character.

Her Sound

The spiritual essences of Alice Coltrane, mixed with the abstraction of Bjork, the spaciness of Radiohead and the drums of J-Dilla, her musical menagerie is packed with influences as diverse as her heritage.

Stacy moved to Atlanta after graduating from the University of Virginia with BA’s in African American Studies and Sociology in 2001. About the same time she rocked studio sessions with producer Tariq L and rap group Scienz of Life’s sophomore release, Project Overground. Here, she found a complimentary vision with Scienz member Lil Sci. The pair formed the innovative group Sol Uprising while Epps worked through law school at USC. West coast hip hop fans welcomed Sol Uprising’s consciously chill mission for progressive music. Particularly, Epps’ avant-soul style impressed MF DOOM, who featured her on King Geedorah’s Take Me to Your Leader (Big Dada, 2003) and the song “Eye” on Madvillainy with (Stones Throw, 2004) albums, respectively. She is continually requested to guest-feature on various projects including albums by Jneiro Jarel & Shape of Broad Minds, Jazz Liberators, Wildchild, and Cris Prolific.

Her Vision

But she won’t stop with just guest appearances! Her expression of love and light shine through on her forthcoming album The Awakening. With blends of forward-thinking hip hop and soul, she hopes the world can feel the divine energy. The Awakening is slated for release in summer 2008, featuring the single “Floatin” produced by Apex.

Naturally, she wants to continue sharing her gift of avant-garde music to fans across the globe. Her plans include travels to Europe for album promotion and community work. Ultimately, Stacy Epps wants to make her impression on the world by creating networks and professional opportunities for youth using music and other arts. She envisions opening a holistic healing center, establishing mechanisms for independent artists to build sustainable business, and fostering unity within the independent music community, world wide.

“Its all about legacy, leaving something behind for the future generations. I want to help the leaders of tomorrow as the ancestors have helped me move forward on my path. My goal is to promote healing and change through music, and I will always stay true to God’s Gift, for it is a blessing. Please enjoy, it is a humble offering from the heart.”
