What good people, the young lady featured in the is post is a phenomenal artist and I want everyone I know to be aware of her work. Looking at her work is a inspiration for me and I want to share her work. So below is a bio and some pics of her work, with links of where some of the merchandise can be purchased. Now I am proud to present Vy

I was born in Luangprabang, Laos, the second youngest child from a family of ten. My family immigrated to Thailand to escape from the communist regime in Laos. We lived in a refugee camp in Thailand in 1982, and after a year we were lucky to be given a chance to come to the U.S and settle in Boise, Idaho. It was a difficult transition, but one that has made me a stronger individual and better at what I do.

I always knew I wanted to pursue a career in art. When I was younger, I would doodle on anything I could find. I dealt with a lot of ignorance and bias in school and growing up. As a result, drawing became an escape from my fellow peers and an outlet for my thoughts.

I am the first person in my family to graduate from college. In 2004, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design. My emphasis was also focused in painting and drawing. I am currently a Promotions Coordinator/Graphic Designer for Boise State University Health, Wellness and Counseling Services in Boise, Idaho. I have been designing for five years and have worked professionally for four. My experience ranges from designing brochures, annual reports, flyers, posters, logos, promotional materials and web design.

My work is strongly inspired by Laotian culture and various genres of music-from Hip Hop and Jazz to Soul and Funk. I am also inspired by 60’s and 70’s era psychedelic poster design and music album art covers. My ideas derive from past influences because I believe we can learn from our past and shape our present and future. I have a passion for creating my own typeface and try to incorporate as much fine art into my design as possible. Music is a major driving force in my work and daily life, and is a huge influence in the creative process. It is what keeps me grounded as a graphic designer and as an artist.
